Bring your guitars, basses, saxophones, piano fingers and drumsticks, because we will rock the inner garden of the NHL building, jazz its foundations and funk everything else. The Mosquito’s 21:30 till 23:00

A combination of Funk, R&B, Reggae, Latin feeling and a great sense of humor on the stage is what MOSQUITO is all about. A band formed 2004 for the Theo “Mosquito” Taihitu (guitar) , Albert “Buddy” La Fontaine (drums) and Gonzalo Crespo (guitar), with different bass players, this formation were playing in the Nederland music scene gaining the audience for their charisma and feeling on stage, 2008 Gonzalo left the band and move out of the country looking for answers and new horizons, in the same year the Venezuelan metal bass player from the band called “LABERINTO” Gregosaurius Rex, join the band as low bottom bass and backing vocals filling the gap that MOSQUITO had experienced for the previous 2 years. An international foundation but with real Amsterdam behaviour always showing their audience that music is enough reason to be happy, together with their very peculiar passion for Mexican roots, legends and of course “TEQUILA”.
Theo ‘Mosquito’ Taihitu, Albert ‘Buddy’ La Fontaine and Gregorio ‘Gregosaurius Rex’ Rangel, will take you on a trip around the world. They incorporate their ‘Tex-Mex’ flavour in an eclectic mix of musical styles from all around the world. For this journey you don’t need a ticket to ride, just a whole lotta imagination. Whether Theo, Buddy and Greg take you to Jamaica, Cuba or California, they guarantee party pleasure. You can rest assured that their show will be fresh, original and packed with smiles all over.

Especially for this show they will be accompanied by Saxophone player Stevieray, a.k.a. the Math Teacher from the NHL Stenden. A regular guest on stage with the mosquito’s he will add emotion and energy on his roaring tenor saxophone. Enjoy the positive vibes and step on board of the Mosquito Train and don’t be afraid to get bit because they sure bite but their bite doesn’t itch!!!!

The story of Leeuwarden? That is told by all those people who have left their mark in the city. DNALWD2018 collects these stories. Anyone who has something with Leeuwarden can give something of his DNA for this. No real DNA, of course. But something that has to do with our city or with yourself. A personal story, object, photo or mini-artwork. Everything is possible, as long as it fits in one tube. All this creative DNA forms one work of art. Tens of thousands of tubes that tell about our differences, but also about what connects us: Leeuwarden. This DNA artwork can be seen in the hall of the Town Hall. Your DNA is stored digitally on this site. So that you, or someone else, can always find it back. Far into the future. This way we build together a story of all of us.
Join us, get a tube and tell your story!
